23rd March- Gloucester Head of the River

With a glorious day of sunshine and little wind it was perfect conditions for a head race. The course was a little winding and narrow in places but with few overhanging trees and bushes the steering was quite easy. Shelley made a solo representation of Wallingford RC and had very enjoyable races in both divisions winning both the WS3 1x and WS2 categories.

2nd March- Bristol Head of the River

Despite being sunny and fairly mild for the time of year, the Bristol docks and head course resembled a rough sea with rolling waves. Anyone racing in a single must’ve been pretty mad but to race twice in one day would be completely psychotic. Which is exactly what Shelley did. In the first division Shelley decided to say hello to the poor occupants of a canal boat parked innocently at the edge of the head race course. This naturally was not part of the race plan and in her determination not to let this incident happen in the second division she managed to row along the wrong side of the docks into a film set where they were shooting. Despite this desperate attempt at fame, she still wasn’t talent spotted by the BBC and had to settle for two 2nd places in the WS3 1x and WS2 1x.
