Club's 60th

We are starting to compile a 60th anniversary commemorative book for Wallingford Rowing Club.

We are anxious to contact readers who have been members and ask them to scour their scrapbooks and photo albums to help us produce an accurate account of the club's first 60 years.

Readers may have been treasurers, secretaries, committee members or served with the Royal Air Force locally and rowed at the club.

It may be you are the children or grandchildren of founder members and you have inherited photo albums of your relative's activities.

You may be able to provide addresses or telephone numbers of former members that we don't have.

Almost certainly the older you are, the more you may be able to help and the more anecdotes, letters or other memorabilia you will hold. We would be happy to meet to hear your stories.

Initially, send photocopies of photographs or fax them to Sportswize on 01491 839913. If you are local to Wallingford, you can bring them to Sportswize, in St Mary's Street, where we will photocopy them for you.

This will enable us to select from those we receive and only contact the owners of the ones we use for the originals. Please ensure full names of crew members are on the photocopies and the year of the event.

Our aim is to print a full colour commemorative book to be available if possible by Christmas.

We would be pleased to receive offers of financial support from those whose fondness for the club prevails. The limited nature of the print run will make the book costly to produce.
